The Getac F110 Takes The Heat With Barcelona’s Firefighters

Extreme heat and water tolerances

Enables real-time remote mission coordination

Resists untimely failures

Until recently, a firefighter’s job and chances of surviving a mission unharmed relied mostly on instincts and team coordination in the moment. In recent years, and thanks to advances in technology, it has become possible to actually plot an intervention, calculate the danger involved, and effectively communicate between the firehouse and the team onsite like never before.

Firefighters need field equipment as reliable as they are.

Firefighting equipment be must able to withstand extreme temperatures, frequent drops, and water damage on a daily basis, while remaining a reliable and constant companion to its operator. In the instant that a major emergency can unfold, time lost to software reboots, battery swaps, GPS inaccuracy, or connectivity issues can mean damaged property and lost lives.

The F110 fully-rugged tablet has proven well-suited to the diverse and extreme stresses of firefighting.

Getac’s solutions come with high-gain WWAN, WLAN and GPS roof-mounted antennas, ensuring team is traceability in real-time. With the F110, users can be sure that processing speed will meet their expectations, with no time lost to reboots or any other operational delays.

The 11.6-inch Lumibond screen allows easy viewing and reading, under intense sunlight and through heavy smoke, and can be operated with one’s bare finger, while wearing thick gloves, or with a pen, even in the pouring rain. The F110 can also survive a very wide temperature range, and won’t break or malfunction from a minor drop. And with its two hot-swappable batteries, where one can be removed and replaced it with a charged battery without operational interruption, untimely and unexpected power downs are all but eliminated.

The F110’s sturdiness, reliability and connectivity have made operational planning easier, while reducing the odds of complications thanks to real-time communications between the onsite team and firehouse.

Barcelona’s firefighters see in Getac tablets a powerful intervention ally thanks to their extreme tolerances of heat, humidity, trepidation, smoke, and drop. Its high-speed processor ensures that no time is lost due to malfunction, reboot, or complications related to lack of data storage capacity, poor connection, or GPS-related difficulties.

Windows OS makes it easy to operate, while its lightweight chassis makes it easy to transport and easy, using the right accessories and vehicle mounts (also supplied by Getac through local partner Tempel). What’s more, all accidental damage is covered by a three-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, where Getac will collect, repair or replace, and deliver a device within days, saving the city of Barcelona time and money.

Before, we were heavily reliant on memory, the caller’s indications and paper maps. This made the intervention a lot more dicult and could make us lose up to dozens of vital minutes trying to locate the caller and pinpointing entry access. Needless to say, equipment malfunctions were extremely frequent with previous, less rugged solutions, something that has drastically changed since we work with Getac hardware
