Getac’s next generation S410 semi-rugged notebook sets new standards for performance, multi-layer security and configurability

Getac today introduces its second generation S410 semi-rugged notebook, designed to withstand the daily challenges facing field technicians and mobile professionals in public safety, manufacturing, utilities and enterprise organisations. The lightweight device brings best-in-class performance, enhanced security features, MIL-STD-certified ruggedness, and is highly configurable to meet the requirements of different industries and job functions.

Organisations are ever more vulnerable to data theft and malicious attacks, which is why the S410 supports a variety of security features built into Windows 10. Machine start-up monitoring and protection (with TPM 2.0) ensures the device is tamper-free before releasing control to the operating system, while BitLocker protects data at rest, in use and in transit. Opal 2.0 SSD’s advanced hardware-based self-encryption technology protects confidential data stored in the drive from unauthorised access. In the event the system is lost or stolen, optional Absolute DDS will allow it to be disabled remotely. The S410 also includes a range of multifactor authentication options for more convenient and secure login, such as fingerprint reader, smart card reader and dual frequency RFID reader, as well as Windows Hello biometric recognition, Microsoft Passport and Credential Guard for additional protection.

One of the most significant additions to the S410 is its infrared (IR) camera that supports facial recognition with Windows Hello for more convenient login and increased security. It delivers consistent images across different lighting conditions, which improves accuracy and robustness of the facial recognition system. IR illumination allows the camera to capture additional information to determine if an object being sensed is an actual person’s face or simply a photograph of an authorised user.

Chris Bye, President, Getac UK comments: “By upgrading the S410 we continue our commitment to producing the most advanced semi-rugged notebook technology in the industry. Faster processors, improved graphics and enhanced security features, mean the S410 is fully equipped to provide mobile professionals in public safety, manufacturing, utilities and other enterprise organisations with the technology they need to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently.”

The S410’s best-in-class performance is delivered by Intel® 8th Generation CoreTM i5 and i7 processors for increased computing performance and more efficient power usage. By using Intel UHD Graphics 620, new generation Wi-Fi (802.11ac), Bluetooth 4.2 and an optional second battery design, users can experience maximum mobile performance. The sunlight readable 14” Full HD LumiBond® 2.0 screen provides a responsive 10-point touch experience, even while wearing gloves, with up to 800 nits (optional 1000 nit HD screen available) of brightness for glare-free reading, even in direct sunlight.

Durability is synonymous with the Getac brand, and the new S410 continues that tradition. The semi-rugged notebook is MIL-STD-810G and IP52-certified to survive drops up to three feet and endure rain, moisture, vibrations, shock and extreme temperatures, from -14°C to 60°C (operating temperature) and -40°C to 71°C (storage temperature). The S410 is backed by Getac’s industry-best, three-year bumper-to-bumper warranty that includes accidental damage and environmental exposure.

The S410 has vehicle docking options that allow simultaneous connection to high-gain WWAN, WLAN and GPS roof-mounted antennas, making it ideal for public safety and field based operatives. For more information on the new Getac S410, visit getac.com
