When developing its Ultra Electronic Architecture Kit (UltraEAK®), the company knew that providing rugged yet affordable computing hardware was essential to delivering successful outcomes especially in small, highly mobile platforms.

Building on previous collaboration, Ultra PCS identified Getac’s UX10 fully rugged tablet and V110 fully rugged laptop as excellent hardware options for the removable version of its UltraEAK®. As these industries have become increasingly digitised, the need for more electronics in land and air vehicles has grown significantly. As a result, many onboard systems have also grown in complexity, with proprietary standards and complicated architecture making integration more and more difficult.
Ultra PCS is at the forefront of the effort to solve this issue by creating open architectures for vehicles that negate the need for highly bespoke, expensive solutions. A key example is Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA) – part of the larger UK MoD Land Open Systems Architecture (LOSA) – which provides a cost effective open, distributed power and data backbone, enabling simpler integration of multiple sensors, weapons, communications and platform management systems.
Ultra PCS offers a range of products that enable the implementation of GVA, such as its Ultra Electronic Architecture Kit (UltraEAK®); a fully open, modular and scalable solution that combines proprietary software with rugged hardware to provide seamless integration of data for vehicle systems. UltraEAK® is offered as a fully inbuilt fixed solution, or as a removeable mobile solution installed on a rugged Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) device that allows customers to use the same UltraEAK® hardware across multiple vehicles via secure onboard docking stations.

In particular, the UX10 fully rugged tablet and V110 fully rugged laptop were chosen for their combination of powerful processing capabilities, fully rugged reliability and cost-conscious price points, giving customers two proven options when choosing rugged COTS devices to be part of their UltraEAK® solution.
Fast and adaptable, the UX10 fully rugged tablet offers an exceptional computing experience in a wide range of challenging environments. Featuring a powerful Intel® i7/i5 processor, the MIL-STD-810H and IP66- certified UX10 delivers great performance with uncompromising durability, while a 10.1-inch FHD LumiBond multi-touch display with 1,000 nits of brightness makes reading and multitasking simple, even in bright sun or adverse weather conditions. The UX10 also offers a wide range of robust security options including integrated fingerprint reader, smart card reader, magnetic stripe reader, RFID reader, and Windows Hello face-authentication camera, all while weighing just 1.15KG (2.56 Lbs).
The V110 fully rugged laptop features a powerful Intel® CoreTM processor alongside an 11.6" LumiBond touchscreen boasting 1,000 nits of brightness, making complex tasks easy. Extensive connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, optional 4G LTE/5G Sub-6 and GPS module, while optional 64GB DDR4 + 2TB storage supports intense data activities in the field. Like all Getac products, the V110 has been built rugged from the ground up for maximum reliability in a diverse range of use cases and user scenarios. MIL-STD-810H, and IP65 certifications ensure the device can withstand regular knocks, drops, spills, and vibrations, while optional ANSI/UL 12.12.01 and salt fog resistance are also available on request.
