A primary concern with rugged devices
is their costs (typically two to three times)
relative to similar commercial-grade devices.
Given this significant cost delta, end users
will tend to favor commercial-grade devices
to support what one might consider "borderline"
rugged applications. However, recent analysis
conducted by VDC on TCO provided strong
evidence that in most applications, rugged
devices had a favorable TCO in comparison
to commercial-grade devices. |
